Daniel Potter - How the group managed Problems

These are the problems we encountered:

  • Difficult Editing (Voice Overs)
  • No equipment
  • Unable to access certain areas
We combatted these issues via different means.
For the editing we were originally going to use a camera for the voice overs however this sounded really shaky therefore we decided to use the Mac itself to record the voice over the top of the rest of the documentary.
Also we took it in turn to carry out the editing as it was incredibly easy to get frustrated with it. Upon several occasions we required assistance to be shown how to properly cross fade several of our clips as they kept going wrong and not working properly.

Another issue that we had frequently was that there was no equipment for us to use. There was not really anything that we could do about this and therefore just had to do our best with the resources available.
This was incredibly frustrating and meant that everything took much longer than necessary. Also half way through we lost half of our footage as the tape was misplaced. Therefore we had to make do with the footage we had.

One of our big issues we faced we being unable to gain access to several of the areas that we wanted to, such as Zizzi's restaurant and the chinese. We did as much filming at these locations as possible however this was not much. Therefore we had to record several other locations to make up the time, this was a great inconvenience as it wasn't necessary to our documentary, this caused us to have to make up a series of other 'stories' to make them relevant.
In the end we didn't actually use this footage anyway so it didn't make any difference to the finished documentary.
